Now in its 34th year, The Open exists to encourage artists at all stages of their career from across the UK to submit their work as part of a large-scale annual salon show.

The Open is a key date in the gallery’s calendar and welcomes over 270 artists of all backgrounds from across Southwark, London and the UK; presenting work across all mediums.

This is one of the UK’s last remaining truly open Opens; an inclusive exhibition model where everyone takes part, and all works are installed without any sense of hierarchy.

CGP London began with an Open show in 1984, in the then derelict park cafe building, produced by The Bermondsey Artists’ Group. Hence to this day, the show remains an integral part of our annual programme and celebrates the ongoing legacy of our founders and ethos that art should be for all.

‘Best in Show’ 2018  selected by local artist John Walter whose CGP Co-Commission CAPSID has just opened at HOME, Manchester. The prize for Best in Show is generously supported by our friends at Breckmann & Company.

2018 ‘Best in Show’ joint winners, Jamie Hammill, video work ‘My World is Modular’ & Bert McLean, painting ‘Classic Skid Grill’.
